Research Interests

Quantitatively understand the spatial distribution and temporal variability of chemical species in the atmosphere. Use two-dimensional and three-dimensional chemistry and transport models to evaluate the natural and anthropogenic forcing from chemical tracers. Investigate the dynamical coupling between the troposphere and stratosphere from the observations and general circulation models. My ongoing research includes CO2 simulation and inversion, stratospheric dynamics, interannual variability of ozone, solar influence on climate, and chemistry and transport models.

Postdoc Position Available

Location: University of Houston
Posted: December/2008
Summary: A new postdoctoral position in Atmospheric Science is available at Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences.
The successful applicant will join a climate research group engaged in the analysis of satellite data, modeling, assimilation, and inverse modeling of CO2 and trace gases.
Applicants must have a recent Ph.D. in atmospheric science or a closely related field and be familiar with atmospheric chemistry and transport modeling as well as having experience in radiative transfer and satellite data analysis. Dr. Xun Jiang will serve as postdoctoral advisor to the selected candidate. The appointee will be guided by the adviser to ensure that the research work will result in significant results and publications in the peer-reviewed literature.
The appointment is contingent upon evidence of completion of a Ph.D. and can begin as early as Spring 2009. Postdoctoral scholar positions are awarded for a one-year period and may be renewed in one-year renewals for a maximum addition of two years.
Applicants should send curriculum vitae including a list of publications, a statement of research interests; and the names, email addresses and telephone numbers of three references to Dr. Xun Jiang.
