Welcome to Yuxuan Wang, Assistant Professor of Atmospheric Chemistry

Wang Joins Atmospheric Sciences Group

Yuxuan Wang recently joined the atmospheric sciences group in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Houston. She received B.E. degrees in environmental engineering and in computer technology and application from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. She was awarded a Ph.D. in earth and planetary sciences from Harvard University. Wang then completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard. Prior to joining UH, she was a faculty member at Texas A&M University Galveston.

Yuxuan WangWang is a member of the International GEOS-Chem Steering Committee and the Global Emissions Initiative Scientific Steering Committee. Her research interests encompass many areas of atmospheric science, with a focus on atmospheric chemistry and physics. She has been a co-convener of an American Geophysical Union Western Pacific Meeting session on “Urban Emission, Flux Measurements, and Air Quality Studies” and the European Geosciences Union General Assembly session on “Chemistry-Climate Interactions”. She is a reviewer for several federal scientific agencies and sits on the editorial board of several international journals.

Wang is author of 56 peer-reviewed publications that cover global modeling and satellite data analysis of aerosols and trace gases. Currently, she has a new grant to study transport of ozone to Texas from wild fires in Mexico and Central America. Her research interests are broad and cover the globe in their application. Wang brings new and exciting dimensions to the atmospheric sciences group at UH.
