Research Projects

undergrad

Senior undergraduates may undertake and receive credit for a research project under the supervision of a faculty member. Such a student must file a general petition specifying: the research content and the basis for evaluation of the work (report, thesis, presentation, etc.,). The petition is to be signed by the student, the supervisor of the project, the undergraduate advisor and/or chair, dean’s representative. Generally such projects are graded S or U. Exceptions to this grading should be stated and justified on the petition. Petitions should be submitted before distribution of semester grade rolls. Students interested in undertaking an undergraduate research project are advised to contact a potential faculty supervisor well ahead of the projected start date for the project.
